As Hadoop has matured as a Big Data platform, there has been increased adoption by Utilities due to the cost benefit, flexibility, and scalability. Come to this session to learn about the real world experience of running Enterprise Hadoop at Sempra Energy. The session will discuss drivers, the motivation behind deploying Hadoop, and key use cases implemented. You will also find out more about the challenges faced and lessons learned throughout the process.

Tom Hobbib is the Manager of Enterprise Analytics Solutions for Sempra Energy utilities – SDG&E and SoCalGas.  His centralized IT team is responsible for implementing and supporting a broad range of analytics and BI solutions and technologies, partnering with business clients in Customer Services, T&D Engineering and Operations, and Finance/Administrative Services.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (Systems Engineering) and University of San Diego (MBA), Tom most recently was the manager for IT Strategy at Sempra and has over 25 years of leadership and consulting experience spanning multiple industries and information technology.

Henry Le is the VP of Analytics for Utegration. He has 10 years of proven track record in implementing Business Analytics, Data Warehouse, Big Data and Predictive Analytics for Smart Meter, Customer Engagement, Segmentation, Revenue Management, and Asset Management. He has worked with 20+ Energy & Utilities across North America. He engaged in speaking at DistribuTech, SAP Sapphire and other conferences. Henry received his MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas.
