On February 24th, a team of 25 from Utegration volunteered at the Houston Food Bank's Portwall Main Warehouse as part of Utegration's "Sharing the Love" Event to give back to the community.
The volunteer shift consisted of inspecting and sorting through donations. "It was my first time to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank", said Theresa Tran, Staff Accountant. "I liked getting to know my coworkers better while making a difference." In about 2 hours, Utegration was able to go through 6,210 lbs of sorting, which equates to 5,105 meals.
The Houston Food Bank feeds 800,000 hungry people each year by distributing food through nearly 600 hunger relief agencies in 18 southeast Texas counties. Thanks to their partnerships, every $1 donation provides a full day of meals for children, adults, or seniors. By 2018, the Houston Food Bank has a goal of distributing 100,000,000 meals each year.
